STATISTICS vs. FACTS

Here at City2, we make no bones about the axes we have to grind. We have our opinions, and we're upfront with our readers. We feel we can make our points with reasonable discussion, and by letting the facts speak for themselves. We won't destroy our credibility with outrageous claims.

I'm sure you've heard the old saying about "lies, damn lies, and statistics." If you couple the 'statistics' with the "Big Lie" propaganda technique, you get…well, you get a liberal politician. We've told you all about their modus operandi: create a 'crisis', propose a 'solution', and take away your freedom.

One most recent assaults on the truth was perpetrated by Congresswoman Jan Schakowski (D-IL), an old acquaintance of the Illinois motorcycle community. She is proposing Federal legislation under the old 'Comparable Worth' banner. She cites the radical feminist 'statistics' that show women making about 75% as much money as men. If these numbers were correct, perhaps some action would be in order. But guess what? These 'statistics' are nothing but a bunch of BS

It is a FACT that women are far more likely than men to take time away from their careers to have and raise children. It is a FACT that people with a couple of years on the job will usually be paid less than someone who's held a similar position for decades. And it's a FACT that women with comparable jobs, education, ability, and experience make statistically identical money as their male counterparts.

This is just another in the seemingly endless series of cases where the liberal politicians, who rely on lies, half-truths, and emotional reaction, choose to ignore the facts in order to justify preferential treatment for a key group of voters.. Don't let them get away with this nonsense.

SPECIAL BONUS!!!

(One in an occasional series of reviews of other media.)

A short while back, in the space of a couple days, ABC News anch or Peter Jennings had negative comments about the U.S.justice system (we have capital punishment), our Constitution (our right to keep and bear arms), our health care system (it's not socialized), and our ancestors (they weren't 1990's politically correct.) He also took potshots at our military, our economic system, and several other facets of American life.

I have a suggestion for Mr. Jennings. Protest our system in a fashion we can all respect. Give up your multi-million dollar (American!) contract with ABC News, and go back to Canada. Then you won't have to put up with us, and we won't have to put up with you.
