The News Site With A Biker Attitude

Cheryl Pearre's Column

It does not matter where the missiles landed. It does not matter who started the fire. Eighty lives lost is heartbreaking to say the least, but my Christian faith tells me that indeed it was the decision of an almighty and powerful God. Apparently Koresh was a criminal, one who needed to be brought back within the boundaries of the law. I will not argue these facts.

What sickens me is the prospect of a government using military force on civilians. The U.S. Army's secret Delta Force, an anti-terrorist unit, were present the day the compound burned. Let me get this straight: this administration is asking us to give up our second amendment right, so that they can flex their muscles and their firepower upon anyone they deem necessary.

Use of military force on civilians is illegal in this country. One of the checks and balances we have over this action IS our second amendment. Think about it, would you disarm your allies? In fact the whole Bill of Rights was written to assure the people that the Federal Government would not gain these very powers over us. The Constitution itself could not be ratified until the Bill of Rights was written. Why? Because our Forefathers knew that without these checks and balances, the federal government would gain too much power.

The message I get from this whole bloody mess is nothing more than a huge power play by our president. Mr. Simon Barr Sinister in the cartoon Under Dog wasn't as power hungry as this guy; at least he admitted that he wanted to rule the world. No perjury for good ol' Mr. Sinister. Clinton and his administration, on the other hand, sit back and continue to lie, lie, and lie again knowing that if they get caught, he'll sell yet another bridge in the desert and we the American people will buy it. He's made such a mockery out of OUR justice system that perjury is an accepted practice by his administration.

We spend much of our time and energy trying to make everyone conform, to make the perfect world, country, state, and community. It will never happen, because we ourselves are human, therefore imperfect. No matter what law is passed, sign, or carved in stone, it will be broken, and that's a fact. So why are we wasting our time with gun laws? We, the honest, responsible, and law abiding gun owners, are only doing our part in a system of checks and balances. Shame on you, Bill Clinton and your administration, for yet again falling through on your part of the bargain. Our Forefathers are looking down on your management with tears in their eyes for your blatant disrespect of the gift of freedom they gave. A gift that many have given their lives for. Stop the lies and start playing by the rules!!!
